Letter: Keeping it local by supporting local politicians

I read every word of Nate Peterson’s good editorial about local news in the Oct. 3 print edition. And while I believe that politics country-wide, and perhaps internationally, affect Eagle County, I certainly understand wanting to keep the Vail Daily mostly local. So, I am reminded to support our local politicians.

Meghan Lukens has done an excellent job of representing our area in the Colorado House of Representatives. She understands the ins and outs of water needs, agriculture, the local economy, and so much more. She is able to work with people from all shades of politics.

We have a chance to replace our superb outgoing county commissioner, Kathy Chandler-Henry, with another fine, responsible candidate, Tom Boyd. From everything I have observed, he will be exactly what we need.

And it will be good to see our very effective district attorney, Heidi McCollum, stay in office.

I have to mention up-and-coming, outstanding U.S. Rep Joe Neguse. Reading about all his successes in the House, I have hopes that he will eventually run for senator.

So Nate, keep it local. I know it’s a balancing act — from housing for millionaires, and all on those down the economic scale, to fabulous music for all tastes, to lost dogs, moose in the meadows and bears at the bird feeders.

You do a great job!
