The public will be able to get a glimpse of the latest concepts for the proposed West Lionshead base area at open houses on Monday and Tuesday.

The open houses will be hosted by the town of Vail, Vail Resorts and East West Partners and are set to take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 7, and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, at the Grand View Room, located on the top level of the Lionshead Parking Structure. Parking in the structure is free for one hour and free for vehicles that enter after 3 p.m.

The West Lionshead base area is anticipated to feature access to Vail Mountain and contain lodging, restaurants, boutiques, skier services, workforce housing, public spaces, transit and parking.

The West Lionshead plan is coming together as a result of an agreement between Vail Resorts and the town of Vail, reached during the fall of 2024, stipulating that Vail Resorts will drop all appeals regarding the town’s eminent domain acquisition of the Booth Heights area in exchange for the town’s prioritization of project to develop a new base area in West Lionshead, located between the current Lionshead and Cascade base areas.

The latest concepts are based on community input received during the fall, and will be used to update the Lionshead Redevelopment Master Plan.
