Vail Pass to see single-lane closures next week during maintenance work
Motorists on sections of Vail Pass will encounter single-lane closures next week as maintenance crews begin a project to seal cracks in asphalt and prevent moisture from penetrating the pavement.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the project will begin on the westbound lanes at the summit of Vail Pass at mile point 195 and move toward mile point 190. Operations will then shift to the eastbound lanes.
Motorists will encounter traffic control for the crack filling project in 2-mile spans where work is being performed and are advised to prepare for lane shifts, delays and reduced speed limits of 35 mph through the work zone.
Project hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The full project is expected to be complete by early October 2024. Road conditions and travel information can be found at COTrip.org.
