Battle Mountain opened the season Tuesday with a 25-19, 25-11, 25-8 sweep of Summit in Edwards. The Huskies (1-0) travel to Aspen (3-3) on Saturday.

  • Jake Adamic and Trey Schumacher each rushed for two touchdowns to lead Canon City to a 49-35 win over Eagle Valley last Friday. The Tigers accumulated 361 yards on the ground in the victory. The Devils (1-1) travel to Grand Junction Central (0-2) on Thursday for a non-league matchup.
  • Battle Mountain boys soccer lost to Centaurus 2-0 on Saturday. Billy Plampin and Chris Robles each notched a first-half goal to lead the Warriors, who rose to No. 1 in 4A in the latest CHSAA polls. The Huskies are back in action on Sept. 18 against Summit.
  • No. 16 Eagle Valley boys soccer defeated Sand Creek 3-1 in Gypsum on Saturday to improve to 5-0-1 on the year. The Devils travel to Montrose on Friday.
  • Vail Mountain School boys soccer defeated Delta 1-0 on Tuesday to improve to 1-1-1 on the season. The Gore Rangers host Liberty Common on Saturday at 4 p.m..
  • Eagle Valley girls softball improved to 10-2 on the year with a 6-5 win over Montrose on Saturday and a 4-3 victory over Rifle on Tuesday. Ellia Blakey led the Devils in both games, going 3-for-5 with an RBI against the Red Hawks and 2-for-4 with two runs against the Bears. Allie Braun added two hits and two RBI in the Rifle win and Phedre Kempton pitched complete games in both contests.
  • Vail Christian boys tennis finished sixth out of 16 schools at the Western Slope Open, held in Grand Junction on Sept. 6. Daniel Blanch (No. 1 singles) and Wyat Fisher (No. 2 singles) both advanced to the semifinals in their respective brackets to lead the Saints.
