Eastbound Interstate 70 is closed through Glenwood Canyon due to a commercial semi-truck that crashed around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The truck was traveling west when it crashed through the guardrail and landed on the lower eastbound lanes.
Westbound traffic is being allowed through the area, which is about six miles east of Glenwood Springs.
The closure is in place for an indefinite amount of time and travelers are being asked to take the detour route north along Colorado Highway 13, along U.S. Highway 40 through Steamboat Springs and down Colorado Highway 9 through Silverthorne.
The detour will be in place through 11 p.m. Tuesday.
