Westbound Vail Pass closes as snow continues to cause treacherous travel condition

9:15 p.m.: Westbound traffic is being stopped near Exit 195, or Copper Mountain, as traffic backs up at Exit 190. Additionally, Colorado Highway 91 closed in both directions between U.S. 24 near Leadville and Copper Mountain.
9:00 p.m.: Westbound Interstate 70 is shut down at Vail Pass Summit near mile marker 190, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The closure is due to a crash, according to CoTrip.org.
6 p.m.: All lanes of Interstate 70 are open over Vail Pass.
5:45 p.m.: Westbound lanes of Interstate 70 are closed starting at the Vail Pass Summit, or mile marker 190, according to an Eagle County Alert. The Colorado Department of Transportation is calling it a safety closure.
3:20 p.m.: Vail Pass eastbound lanes have reopened.

12:30 p.m.: Eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 are closed over Vail Pass for safety concerns, according to an Eagle County Alert.
Eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 over Vail Pass shut down around 10 a.m. at East Vail due to safety concerns, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The road reopened a little over an hour later, but snowy conditions persisted.
Snow is expected to continue throughout the day and weekend, with wind adding to potentially hazardous travel conditions.
