Hernreich named to Board of Directors of Global Action
BOSTON, Mass. The Board of Directors of Global Action announces today the recent addition of Robert Hernreich to the organizations board of directors. Mr Hernreich, a resident of Edwards, Colorado and Las Vegas, Nevada officially took his place on the board in late 2007. Mr. Hernreichs expertise in the business sector as well as his extensive experience on nonprofit boards has been instrumental in providing vision, problem solving and overall assurance of good governance, says Michelle Lyden, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Global Action. Global Action is a Boston-based nonprofit organization with the goal of driving sustainable solutions to end chronic hunger. The organizations focus seeks to improve the health and nutrition of vulnerable populations, especially women and children, by reducing micronutrient malnutrition in developing countries. Global Action currently has four programs: Micronutrient Food Fortification Program, Orphan Feeding Program, Healthy Schools Program and Community Mentor Program. Bobby is also extremely philanthropic and has committed a considerable amount of money to help launch our malnutrition programs in Africa and Asia, added Lyden. He has a generous spirit and truly wants to make the world a better place to live.Those initiatives began in April 2008 and introduced Global Actions programs into 20 Tanzanian orphanages. Global Actions Tanzanian partner in the initiative, Orphans Relief Services, received considerable funds and endorsements from President Bush and is ranked high on the list to receive funds from the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).Mr. Hernreich is an owner of the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association, Sacramento Monarchs of the Womens National Basketball Association and the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League. Mr. Hernreich is President of Remonov Capital, Inc., Las Vegas, Nevada, and co-owner of Remonov & Company, Edwards, Colorado. Both are private investment firms. Previously, Mr. Hernreich was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Broadcasting Company, formerly Arkansass largest television and radio station group. He was Chairman of United States Repeating Arms, maker of Winchester sporting firearms. Mr. Hernreich is on the Board of Directors of The Vail Valley Foundation, Beaver Creeks Vilar Center For The Arts Foundation, and The Board of Trustees of Washington University in St. Louis. He is Vice-Chair of the National Advisory Board of the National Center on Sexuality affiliated with San Francisco State University. He is a board member of The Snowsports Outreach Society, an organization to benefit under privileged and at risk youth, and The Eagle Valley Land Trust. He was a founding member of the Youth Foundation in Vail, a past director of K2, Inc., The Miss America Organization, and past chairman of the board of Colorado Parks and Outdoor Recreation.
