Edwards Early Learning Center renovations includes building more classrooms
The Eagle County School District’s Edwards Early Learning Center renovation project has moved into its next phase: Renovations to the building’s classroom spaces.
Once finished, the Edwards Early Learning Center will include four additional infant and toddler rooms, bringing the total in the building to eight classrooms specifically for infants and toddlers. This will allow for 64 new infant and toddler spaces. The expansion will provide additional opportunities for Eagle County School District to serve Head Start children and families.
The Edwards Early Learning Center will also be opening two new preschool classrooms, which will bring the total to 12 rooms servicing up to 180 preschool-aged children, with the potential for further growth if needed. The school’s new classrooms are expected to open in September 2025.
Preliminary construction work on the center began a few months ago with parking area renovations, creating additional spaces and a more conducive flow for the larger school building once complete.
Funding for the renovations comes from the Eagle County School District bond initiative approved by voters in 2023, allocating $100 million for various capital projects.

The district is also constructing the Gypsum Early Learning Center, which broke ground in August. The center will be able to accommodate 320 students from pre-K to 4. In addition, the project includes a 20-unit workforce housing apartment complex, with the possibility for more. Both projects have a target completion date of December 2025.
