Crews extinguish fire at East Vail duplex

One occupant was in the home and escaped without injury

A fire at a duplex in East Vail resulted in major damage to one side of the duplex and minimal damage to the other.

Vail Fire & Emergency Services crews were dispatched just before 5 p.m. Sunday to a report of smoke at a three-story duplex located at 3265 Katsos Ranch Rd. The incident resulted in major damage to one side of the duplex and minimal damage to the other.

One occupant was in the home and escaped without injury. Crews were on the scene until 10 p.m. with units remaining overnight to monitor for hot spots.

Responding agencies included Eagle River Fire Protection District, Summit Fire & EMS, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, Vail Public Safety Communications Center and Vail Police.



The cause of the fire is under investigation by local fire investigators and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.
