Applicants sought for Eagle County Open Space Advisory Committee

The Eagle County Open Space and Natural Resources Department seeks applicants to join the Open Space Advisory Committee. Community members passionate about or with experience in land and wildlife conservation, real estate, agriculture, hunting, angling, recreation, and open space protection are encouraged to apply for this opportunity to help guide the future of Eagle County’s Open Space Program. Applications will be accepted from April 4 to April 30, 2025.

The Open Space Advisory Committee was created to evaluate and fund projects that permanently conserve lands of significant scenic, cultural, or environmental quality within the county. Using specific Open Space Criteria, Open Space Advisory Committee members evaluate potential open space properties and provide recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding land acquisitions, site improvement plans, and organizational development of the Open Space Program.

The Open Space Advisory Committee reviews projects presented by Open Space staff and provides appropriate recommendations on funding and completing these conservation projects. Relationships in the community are paramount, as members are ambassadors for the Open Space program. Apart from acquisitions, Open Space Advisory Committee does not oversee the Open Space Department staff, manage existing Open Space properties, or provide direction on the program’s operational budget.

Applicants must be Eagle County residents. Committee members serve staggered terms (two or three years) and meet on the second Monday of each month to review potential acquisitions or other conservation projects related to the Open Space program.

Interested individuals can find additional information and apply by visiting the Eagle County OSAC webpage and previous OSAC meetings on ECGtv.
