STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colorado — In his final high school race, Vail Mountain Nordic skier Chris Woods broke away from the pack early and picked up his first high school win.

Woods led the Gore Ragners in the 5K mass-start state championship classic race in Steamboat Springs Friday, with his brother and teammate Sean Woods in third.

Karlie Moore was second in the girls race.

A Banner state
Battle Mountain alpine skier Jenny Banner couldn't have done much better, and neither could her team for that matter,

Banner won Friday's state championship giant slalom, her second race in as many days, while the Huskies landed four girls in the top ten to win the race.
